Mission
The Cardinal
The red-plumaged, high-crested
songbird "carinalis cardinalis"
(cardinal) was adopted in 1933 by
the General Assembly as the official
state bird.
Our mission is to celebrate Ashtabula's and Ohio's Bicen-tennial. We also intend to help make Ohio and Ashtabula a more beautiful and better place to live by helping citizens take pride in their community. Ohio became a state in 1803 and Ashtabula's first permanent settler settled in Ashta-bula in June 1803.
